Majestic Wine is rolling out click and collect and next day delivery propositions as it continues its multichannel drive.

The retailer will offer its full range of 1,250 wines through the new service, which is being rolled out quietly across its 210 UK stores.

All of its shops and its transactional website will offer click and collect, next day and named day delivery options from Wednesday November 2, in time for the crucial Christmas trading period.

Majestic, which has taken a 20,000 sq ft space in a fulfilment centre managed by Wincanton to fulfil the deliveries, described the move as “a significant step in its transformation plan.”

Its stores previously only offered click and collect on Naked Wines ranges, after Majestic acquired the online business in April last year.

New fulfilment centre

Majestic, which is poised to reveal full details of the move to the London Stock Exchange next week, said its new fulfilment centre in Greenford would drive improved customer service and wine availability by taking tasks out of the hands of store staff.

Around 40% of all online orders will now be processed through the warehouse.

The retailer has also removed the six bottle minimum online order policy, although customers will continue to receive discounts for ordering six products in the same order.

Majestic Retail boss John Colley said: “This is a big step in our transformation plan and will help support Christmas trading.

“We are putting the customer back at the heart of Majestic and can now offer a complete multichannel experience which will deliver real benefits to our customers, people and therefore our shareholders.”

Majestic, which issued a profit warning last month after Naked Wines’ market push in the US faltered, said it did not expect the new warehouse to impact earnings in its current financial year.
