Lidl has reshuffled its operations team as the German discounter continues to expand its UK estate.

Lidl appoints new operations director as sales grow

The grocer, led by managing director Ronny Gottschlich in the UK, has promoted Tim Henry to become operations director after nine years with the business.

He replaces longstanding Lidl UK executive Conor Boyle who has been promoted to become managing director of Lidl Sweden.

Lidl has been growing rapidly in the UK as the value market continues to boom with shopper spending under pressure.

The 600-store grocer has also garnered shoppers after upping its fresh meat and fish credentials through increased sourcing of British products.

Lidl now holds a 3.1% share of the grocery sector and enjoyed 14.9% sales growth in the 12 weeks to August 18, according to Kantar Worldpanel.

However, archrival Aldi’s growth has outstripped Lidl. Over the same period its sales rose 31.9% and its market share is now 3.7%.
