Amazon is set to add its own label of food online in a bid to make gains in the grocery sector.

The retail giant will offer hundreds of “By Amazon” and “Our Selection” products to its website for customers to purchase as its steps up its fights against British supermarket chains.

The range of products will include fresh groceries, ready-meals and cupboard essentials.

Amazon is also expected to launch a marketing campaign to entice more customers to its Fresh grocery service.

It also plans to roll out its Amazon Fresh checkoutless store concept to more locations in the near future, as the business makes moves in bricks and mortar.

The retailer already sells groceries from Morrisons and Booths online, but still has little market share in comparison to the Big Four grocers.

There has been speculation that Amazon could make a bid for Morrisons in order to cement its position in UK grocery, but an offer has yet to be tabled.
