Arcadia owner Sir Philip Green has been eyeing locations for a second Topshop store in New York, ahead of the retailer’s US debut in October.

Green is understood to be aiming for first-year sales of between US$30 million and US$40 million (£15.3 million and£20.4 million) from its debut store, which will open at 478 Broadway.

He declined to comment to the US press about sales targets and online news service WWD, which quoted the figures, did not reveal its sources.

Green said: “This is going to be Topshop in all its glory – identical. It’s not going to be Americanised. It will be London transferred to New York.”

The 40,000sq ft store will have four floors, a shoe lounge, 32 changing rooms and a VIP suite. It will have personal shoppers, style advisers, the Topshop to Go at-home shopping service and home delivery. Product will not be discounted.

Green said he had 10 sites to visit in Manhattan during his stay, including 34th Street, Fifth Avenue and Lexington Avenue. However, he added that further sites had not been secured. He will not consider opening stores in US malls.
