Grainger Games has hired former HMV commercial director Simon Peck to bolster its management team as it seeks to expand.

Peck, who spent 20 years at HMV, joined this month as commercial director.

The appointment comes after the hiring of former Asda finance director Mark Blundell, who joined Grainger Games as finance director in March.  Blundell spent 20 years at Asda.

Grainger Games said Blundell’s experience in overhauling Asda’s clothing supply chain is “already delivering critical success” at the games specialist.

Most recently Blundell was finance director at Home Delivery Network.

Grainger Games based in the North East,  said the appointments “complete the line up of senior management” at the retailer that will “take Grainger Games from being an entrepreneurial family run business to a major force in UK high street and online retailing”.

The business appointed Jonathan Fellows as chairman last year.

Grainger Games founder and managing director Stephen Bowyer said: “I have taken a considerable amount of time to build this team to ensure that the experience, cultural fit, desire and passion match what has made Grainger Games a great business to this point. We now see this as the spring board onto the next level for our business.”

Grainger Games has opened a second warehouse and distribution facility in the North East which will support its store expansion.

It will also launch a new website with “innovative social media and technology led retail solutions”.

Bowyer said: “We are all looking forward to what we believe will be an amazing Christmas for Grainger Games and then forwards into 2012, for what will be another exciting time for us.”
