Lego is set to open two new stores in the UK this year, both at flagship shopping centres owned by Hammerson.

The Lego Group’s only two new stores to open in the UK this year will be on Hammerson schemes at the Bullring in Birmingham and Westquay in Southampton.

While no exact date was given for the openings, Hammerson said the stores will open their doors “ahead of the Christmas shopping season”.

Hammerson said “customers can expect to be treated to a variety of interactive play and event experiences” – including brick specialists to “help find shoppers a unique set that’s the perfect fit”, hands-on “play opportunities” and a digital box – where customers can “scan almost any boxed Lego set and see the model come to life in 3D”.

The landlord said the stores will “stock the widest selection of Lego sets” and offer additional benefits for “Lego VIP members”.

UK leasing director at Hammerson, Kate Orwin, said the stores promise to be “innovative, interactive and engaging” and will be a “great addition” to its retail mix.

“These Lego stores are a great addition to the retail mix at both Bullring & Grand Central and Westquay, which have already seen a number of exciting new openings in 2019, including Kitty Café and Slim Chickens at Bullring & Grand Central, and Tommy Hilfiger at Westquay.”
