Moss Bros founding family member shareholders the Gee family are understood to be considering selling their stake in the menswear retailer.

The family, which owns a 5 per cent holding in Moss Bros – the subject of a failed£40 million takeover by Baugur last month – is understood to be in negotiations with interested parties about acquiring the stake, according to market sources.

Potential buyers at this time remain unclear. The other founding family shareholders, the Moss family, have an 18 per cent stake, Baugur has 29 per cent and Laura Ashley has nearly 10 per cent.

Moss Bros non-executive director Rowland Gee declined to comment on the potential negotiations. No comment was available from Moss Bros.

Last month, menswear supplier Berwin & Berwin was believed to be interested in acquiring 20 per cent of Moss Bros from Baugur.
