Games retailers will be rubbing their hands in glee today with the release of the most anticipated title of the year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The game was launched with the first ever West End premiere for a computer game, which is expected to be the biggest-selling game of all time.

Several London retailers opened at midnight to sell the game, and supermarkets have slashed their prices in a bid to pull in customers. The game’s predecessor Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare reportedly sold over 13 million copies.

The premiere was held at Vue Cinema in Leicester Square, hosted by TV presenter Vernon Kay.
