The Competition Commission has cleared Game’s acquisition of Gamestation.

The Office of Fair Trading referred the acquisition to the Competition Commission in August.

Yesterday, Game posted comparable store sales up 30.3 per cent in the retailer’s core UK and Ireland market for the six weeks to January 12. Total sales for the UK and Ireland leaped 77.9 per cent. Group sales, including overseas stores, rose 31.9 per cent on a like-for-like basis and 76.3 per cent in total.

Game Group acquired Gamestation in May for £74 million.
