Launch set back will cost retailer £4m
Game's Christmas sales will take a hit as Sony delays the launch of PlayStation 3 in Europe until March. The computer game specialist could miss out on sales of 50,000 units, according to estimates from city analysts Seymour Pierce.

The console was due for a November release. PlayStation 3 goes on sale as scheduled in the US and Japan, but will be delayed in Europe.

The problem lies with a shortage of a key component in the console's disk drive.

Seymour Pierce research analyst Richard Ratner said: 'We think that Game will lose about£4 million of profits gross, but almost one third of this will be clawed back by substitution of other items. We therefore reduce our profit estimate for the year from£21 million to£18.5 million.'
