Wright renews his interest in menswear retailer
Former Moss Bros chief executive Adrian Wright is understood to be running the slide rule over menswear retailer SRG.

Wright looked at the business earlier this year, but is said to have renewed his interest in the belief that he may be able to secure a better deal because of the consumer downturn.

The retailer, owned by the Brick family, appointed BDO Stoy Hayward nine months ago to sound out potential buyers. At the time, SRG - owner of Racing Green and the Suits You chain, which is in the process of being rebadged You - attracted interest from trade and private equity firms.

However, it is understood that prospective offers have so far fallen short of the Brick family's asking price.

SRG finance director Jonathan Freedman said Wright is a 'personal friend' of the Brick brothers. He said at some point 'they will no doubt look at the options', but dismissed rumours that a deal was on the table.

Adrian Wright stood down as Moss Bros Group chief executive at the beginning of last year after returning the retailer to profitability after four years of losses. He rationalised the number of fascias from 15 to three and cut poor-performing stores from the portfolio.

Prior to Moss Bros, Wright was managing director of Kent mega-mall Bluewater.

Wright was unavailable for comment.
