Flying Brands plans entertainment offer

Home shopping business Flying Brands plans to expand its audio books division, Listen2, into other areas of home entertainment, adding DVDs, CDs and books to the offer.

'Our strategy is to develop Flying Brands along three lines - gifts, hobbies and entertainment,' said the company's chief executive Mark Dugdale.

'The audio books brand Listen2 will form a larger part of a general entertainment business, targeted primarily at a female, 45-plus audience.'

The retailer aims to expand both organically and through acquisitions.

Dugdale said he had 'three or four' potential acquisition targets in the home shopping market.

'We haven't any plans to make a grandiose announcement at this time, but we will be adding to our stable when the opportunity arises,' he said.

Flying Brands will release its half-year figures at the end of this month.

The company said profits would be ahead of expectations, because of a strong performance from its Gardening Direct and Flying Flowers brands.
