Lloydspharmacy boss Richard Smith is to leave in June to become chief executive of healthcare company Integrated Dental Holdings.

Parent Celesio Group said in a statement that Smith’s successor “will be announced in due course”. Smith has been managing director of the pharmacy chain since 2008, having joined as chief operating officer in 2005. He previously worked at Somerfield as marketing director and began his career at Unilever.

Lloydspharmacy made 31 head office redundancies last month after an operations review, which Smith said was “an important part of our evolution as a business”. He blamed the need for cuts on a reduction in government funding for pharmacies.
