Go Outdoors has hired financial adviser KPMG to explore the possibility of a potential sale in an effort to fuel expansion.

Go Outdoors boss and former Dixons Carphone executive Chris Matthews said the retailer was in the ā€œinitial stagesā€ of discussions with private investors regarding a potential sale, but declined to comment on whether the group’s owners were seeking a full or partial acquisition, according to the Financial Times. 

Go Outdoors doubled its pre-tax profit to £3.1m in its last full-year results and operates 57 stores across the UK.

In March the retailer unveiled multi-million pound investment plans to launch dedicated in-store cycling departments called Go Cycling across 51 of its shops in an effort to compete with Halfords
