Retail Week looks ahead to the next seven days, which include updates from Quiz and Joules.

Cyber Monday

The Black Friday promotional bonanza continues next week with Cyber Monday.

Shoppers have already been quick to snap up deals, with the likes of Dixons Carphone and eBay reporting increasing sales, despite a turbulent trading backdrop in the build-up to the Sales frenzy.

Retailers are hoping that the Black Friday period will provide a welcome boost as the crucial Christmas trading period gets under way.

BRC-KPMG

The monthly BRC-KPMG retail sales figures for November are being released on Tuesday.

After subdued sales growth in October (up 0.1% on a like-for-like basis and 0.6% overall), retailer’s will hope that Black Friday and Cyber Monday trading brings a fillip in sales year on year.

Quiz

Quiz posts its interim results on Wednesday.

The fashion retailer said sales fell during its first half as “very challenging” conditions on the high street impacted its top line – and the City will be braced for that to have hit profitability.

Group revenues dropped 5% to £63.3m during the half, but Quiz insisted that trading had been “broadly in line” with expectations despite the “difficult” trading backdrop in the UK.

Joules

Joules posts a trading update on Thursday.

The fashion chain reported soaring profits in the 52 weeks to May 26 and investors will be seeking further momentum.

Joules enjoyed a 19.4% rise in underlying pre-tax profit to £15.5m during the year, as group revenues jumped 17.2% to £218m. International sales surged 43.5%.
