Retail Week looks ahead to the next seven days, with an update from N Brown and Richard Pennycook’s address to the BRC on the agenda.

Zalando

The German etail giant has its capital markets day on Monday, June 19. Zalando, which is now billing itself as a technology company rather than a retailer, has listed the UK as a key territory for expansion.

Until now, the etailer had veered away from entering the UK too aggressively, but all that has changed. With its impressive pre-tax profit record, UK retail should be keeping a close eye on this player.

N Brown

Tuesday, June 20 brings N Brown’s first quarter update, just a week after news that chairman Andy Higginson is to leave the business.

Chief executive Angela Spindler is embarking on the second wave of her plan at the specialist retailer, having told Retail Week that the time for transformation was “over” at its full years.

The market will be keen to hear the details of her plans to drive further growth.

Richard Pennycook at the BRC

Fenwick chairman and former Co-op boss Richard Pennycook is the keynote speaker at the BRC Annual Retail Industry Lecture on Thursday, June 22.

He will address wide-ranging, big-picture issues, from what a purposeful organisation looks like, to the transformation journey that retailers need to embark on and how to attract millennials to the retail workplace.
