Retail Week looks ahead to the next seven days, with updates from Sports Direct, Hotel Chocolat and AO.com all on the agenda.

Hotel Chocolat

The chocolatier provides its latest trading update on Wednesday, July 18.

The AIM-listed business has gone from strength to strength since floating in May 2016, posting a 15% jump in pre-tax profit to £12.9m in the six months to December 31, 2017.

Sports Direct

The sports specialist will report its preliminary results on Thursday, July 19.

Sports Direct posted a major drop in interim profits despite putting in what boss Mike Ashley described as a “spectacular trading performance” across its flagship stores. The sporting goods retailer recorded a 67.3% slump in pre-tax profits as UK retail sales slipped 1%.

Mothercare

The nursery retailer holds its AGM on Thursday.

Mothercare has been through the ringer in recent months with both its chief executive and chairman ousted from the business. Chief executive Mark Newton-Jones has since returned and now has the hefty task of turning around the failing company.

Mothercare is currently working on completing a £32.5m equity issue, which will fund its restructuring plan, by July 27.

AO.com

The electricals etailer will post its first-quarter results and hold its AGM on Thursday.

AO.com reported widening losses at its last full year, posting a group adjusted EBITDA loss of £3.4m despite a 13.6% rise in total revenue.
