Retail Week looks ahead to the next seven days, with updates from Morrisons, French Connection and Eve Sleep on the agenda.

Eve Sleep

The mattress in a box retailer will report its final results on Monday, March 12. Eve Sleep said in its fourth-quarter update in November that sales for the first 11 months of the year were expected to have grown 130%.

The business is expected to reach profitability in the UK by the fourth quarter of 2018 and at group level during 2019.

French Connection

The troubled fashion retailer will update the market on its final results on Tuesday, March 13. French Connection managed to narrow its losses in its first half despite suffering falling sales due to closing stores.

Boss Stephen Marks hailed “positive momentum” and said he was “confident” that French Connection would return to profit “in the near future”.

Spring statement

Tuesday also brings the spring spending statement from Chancellor Philip Hammond.

However, Hammond is not due to make any spending announcements during the shortened speech and will instead give a brief response to monetary forecasts produced by the Office for Budget Responsibility.

Morrisons

The grocer will report its preliminary results on Wednesday, March 14.

Morrisons posted a jump in sales during the crucial Christmas trading period as investments in sharpening prices and improving availability bore fruit: like-for-likes climbed 2.8%.

Morrisons recently announced that it would be cutting 1,500 store management roles.
