Ted Baker has drafted in commercial lawyer Anne Sheinfield as an independent non-executive director.

The appointment of Sheinfield, who has worked in senior in-house legal roles at organisations such as the Society of West End Theatre, Theatrical Management Association and Sony Music Entertainment, comes on the back of strong interim results from the fashion retailer and brand yesterday.

Ted Baker yesterday posted a 20.4% rise in retail sales and a 8.2% increase in wholesale sales for the 19 weeks to June 12.

Ted Baker said gross margins and the increase in wholesale sales were in line with expectations. Total sales at Ted Baker climbed 18% over the 19 weeks.

The company said Sheinfield will be appointed to the Audit, Nomination and Remuneration Committees after a suitable period of induction with Ted Baker.

Ted Baker chairman Robert Breare said of the appointment: “We are delighted that Anne Sheinfield is joining the Ted Baker board. She brings with her a wealth of Intellectual property and commercial legal experience and we look forward to her contribution going forward.”
