Lifestyle retailer and brand White Stuff has proved it has the right stuff with a record year that has seen sales and profit soar.

In the 52 weeks to May 1, sales rocketed 43% to £83.7m and underlying EBITDA soared 38% to £18.4m. The retailer opened seven new stores and extended space in its Cardiff and Stratford-upon-Avon stores during the period, while home shopping provided another highlight with growth of 102% to £8.9m.

White Stuff chief executive Sally Bailey said: “We have really focused our efforts on making our customers happy, by expanding our product ranges, including footwear and loungewear, and offering treats and delights to make customers feel welcome in our shops.”

Bailey cautioned about prospects for retailers in the year ahead, but remained bullish about the outlook for White Stuff.

“We remain confident about the prospects for growth, and we are doubling the size of our distribution centre, investing in a new end-to-end IT system, and increasing our head office space by fifty per cent,” she said. “In the coming year we also plan to expand our shop portfolio by at least 10 new shops across the UK, including our biggest-ever retail space, in Edinburgh.”
