Next product guru Christos Angelides is leaving the fashion business in September to join a US retailer.

It was not revealed which retailer Angelides will join but an announcement is expected shortly.

Angelides steps down from the Next board with immediate effect but will remain in the business until he leaves in September.

Angelides, who is viewed as Next boss Lord Wolfson’s right-hand man, has been at the retailer for 28 years.

The company will not replace Angelides on the board.

His departure follows that of Next finance director David Keens, who revealed last month that he plans to retire next March after 28 years at the retailer.
