National Schoolwear Centres – a nationwide chain of school uniform shops – went into administration last week.
The Norwich-based retailer, which has 50 outlets, has appointed administrator Begbies Traynor to sell the business. The receivership does not affect its franchised outlets.
Begbies Traynor partner at the London office David Hudson said: “We are continuing to trade with a view to selling the business and the assets as a going concern. We are hopeful that a positive outcome can be achieved.”
National Schoolwear Centres is the latest in a spate of high street failures. Discount fashion chain Ethel Austin went into administration last week and Menzies Corporate Restructuring is seeking a buyer for the 300-store chain.
In addition, Scottish retail group Ossian, which owns the Internaçionale and Au Naturale fashion and homewares chains, appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers as its administrator.
