Fashion retailer Monsoon Accessorize has recruited a new chief digital officer.
Monsoon Accessorize has appointed Andre Rickerby to the role.
Rickerby, who started a few weeks ago and was most recently executive vice president of luxury travel operator Scott Dunn, brings experience from a variety of retailers.
He spent almost two years as chief marketing officer of online greetings cards specialist Moonpig, and before that was at Etsy for almost five years, rising to be vice president of global marketing. He also worked in digital marketing roles at Asos.
Neither Rickerby nor Monsoon Accessorize wished to comment on his appointment. However, he posted on LinkedIn: “I’m glad to have made the move to two fantastic brands that are on such an exciting journey. There’s still plenty to learn, but the opportunity ahead is already clear to see.”
Privately owned Monsoon Accessorize was founded by entrepreneur Peter Simon in 1973 from a market stall on London’s Portobello Road. It now has approximately 140 stores and is owned by Adena Brands, which is controlled by Simon.
In its most recently reported financial year, Adena Brands posted a pre-tax loss of £7.5m versus a profit of £14.1m the previous year. Turnover slipped from £231m to £204m.
“Weak consumer demand” and “steep wage and other cost inflation” were blamed for the decline in performance.
