Marks & Spencer lost more ground to its fashion rivals Primark and Zara over January, according to data from Kantar Worldpanel.
The data, seen by the Sunday Times, showed M&S lost 0.4% market share in clothing after sales in the category fell 1.3% at the retailer in the 24 weeks to January 20. It is thought it lost ground to Primark and Zara in particular.
In the most recent 24 week period, Primark and Zara experienced double digit sales growth, while Debenhams, H&M and Next also performed well.
Marks & Spencer is already under pressure to raise its game in clothing after its general merchandise like-for-likes slumped 3.8% in the 13 weeks to December 29. The retailer last year parachuted in former Jaeger boss Belinda Earl to revamp its womenswear.
Collections designed by the new team will not hit stores until July.
