Shoe retailer Dune London said that, despite the challenging retail environment, it had a “good year” in the UK.
Like-for-like retail sales jumped 5.2% in the 12 months to January 27.
The specialist hailed a particularly fruitful festive period, with like-for-likes up 7.2% in the six weeks to December 30, which it said was driven by growth across its 250 stores and concessions, and its online channel in particular.
Dune did not disclose profit or sales figures, but said strong momentum continued in January, “rounding out what has been a good year in the UK”.
It added that international growth was “robust” – sales from overseas markets now represent more than a quarter of its total revenue.
Chairman Daniel Rubin attributed the performance to “strategic investments” in product, omnichannel and marketing.
“Our focus on delivering exceptional customer service and offering a point of difference at great value has proved popular with our customers, and we have successfully maintained our gross margin, despite the impact of sterling’s relative weakness during much of the year,” he added.
