Debenhams has launched a Blue Cross Sale today in its latest move to cash-in on bargain hungry shoppers.

The Sale, which offers shoppers discounts of up to 70 per cent in stores and online, is one of a string of recent promotions by the department store to take the lead on the battle for high street spend.

Department stores and fashion retailers including House of Fraser, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols are also on Sale.

Debenhams said that the Sale is timed to coincide with the last pay day before the summer holiday period kicks off, helping customers to spend less for their holidays.

Reductions include women’s designer dresses at £30 and men’s designer shirts from £12.

Debenhams deputy chief executive Michael Sharp said: “We are massively proud of Blue Cross. Offering great value to customers has never been as important and we feel we do it better than most.”
