Asos has joined forces with smart-bus platform Zeelo in a bid to convert employee commutes to electric bus journeys.

The fashion retailer is one of six businesses participating in the 30-day trial, which will “run 260 employee commutes to and from its key customer care centre in the UK”.

Zeelo’s trial is part of its test-and-learn 100% electric commuter service, launched to “encourage its clients to make the switch to electric vehicles”.

The trial will see Asos testing a new electric bus on its existing staff commute programme, in a bid for the retailer to “pave the way for a low-emission future of transport”.

Asos employees will benefit from the tailored and flexible bus service, which will suit various shift patterns and offer frontline staff a direct, “tech-optimised” commute to and from its Watford Leavesden Park site and Watford Junction Station.

Asos first partnered with Zeelo last year to “support talent attraction and retention for employees at its flagship customer care centre”.

Asos customer care director Daryl Wilkes said: “Employee journeys represent a small proportion of our overall emissions, but that doesn’t mean they should be ignored. Our team at Leavesden love the commuter service that Zeelo already provides and we’re pleased to support this important trial.”
