HMV administrator KPMG has named the 27 stores set to close, including the retailer’s Oxford Street flagship.

The closures follow the sale of the bulk of the business to Canadian music retail tycoon Doug Putman.

The affected shops are:

  • Sheffield Meadowhall
  • Southport
  • Thurrock

  • Uxbridge
  • Watford
  • Westfield London
  • Wimbledon

The branches will shut immediately with the loss of 455 jobs.

Putnam, the owner of music retailer Sunrise Records in Canada, has taken control of 100 HMV stores in the UK, preserving 1,500 jobs in the process.

HMV collapsed into administration for the second time in six years at the end of 2018.
