The opening of the first Best Buy in the UK is on track to becoming the “biggest ever” opening day for the US electricals giant.

Best Buy opened its doors to eager crowds in Thurrock on Friday with thousands of customers keen to see the new store and take advantage of highly competitive opening day deals.

Best Buy chief executive of branded operations Paul Antoniadis said at the opening: “Today is on track to be the biggest ever opening day for a Best Buy store anywhere in the world by volume of sales. Everyone on the Best Buy team is delighted with the start of this new chapter in Best Buy’s story.”

Opening day deals that sold out on the day included Wii Black, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, Samsung 32” LED Full HD TV and a Blackberry Curve Pay as you Go.
