Retailers including Dixons Carphone, AO.com and Walmart are all offering autumn Sales in competition with Amazon’s delayed Prime Day.

Amazon’s Prime Day event, which is ordinarily in July but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, will take place next week on October 13–14, and typically offers big deals on electrical and tech items such as laptops, televisions and kitchen appliances, as well as Amazon-branded products including Kindles and Echo smart speakers.

While many retailers are gearing up for Black Friday Sales on November 27, some have put on early Sales to compete with Prime Day as more and more consumers shop online.

Dixons Carphone’s autumn Sale is running until November 9 or until stocks run out, offering discounts on items such as 4K TVs and Fitbits.

Dixons chief commercial officer Ed Connolly said: “Our autumn clearance gives customers a chance to upgrade their essential tech, or purchase an item they have had their eye on recently, and with the amazing prices on offer there has never been a better time to shop.

“With autumn drawing in and the nation preparing for long nights ahead, our huge deals across large-screen TVs, computing and white goods are perfect to keep you occupied and entertained for the rest of the year and in the lead up to Christmas.”

AO.com is also running a Sale to rival Prime Day, discounting goods such as tablets and coffee machines to encourage customers to buy Christmas gifts early.

In the US, Walmart and Target are both doing Sales events.

Walmart’s “Big Save” event runs from October 11–15, promising “Black Friday-like savings” on items such as smart TVs and games consoles.

Target’s Deal Days Sale directly overlaps Amazon’s, running on October 13–14, marking the beginning of Target’s holiday Sales season.
