DSG International is understood to have instructed Citigroup to carry out a strategic review of its Italian and Spanish chains with a view to possibly selling the businesses.

Consideration of disposals is the latest stage of chief executive John Browett’s attempt to turn around the electricals giant, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

In Italy, DSGi operates 116 electrical stores under the UniEuro brand. It also has nine PC City stores in Italy and 25 PC City superstores in Spain.

Browett said in May that DSGi would focus the portfolio on “winning positions” – the UK, Ireland, Nordics, Greece and the internet.
