Tom Barry to head Tech Guys
DSGi has poached Comet director Tom Barry to be managing director of its Tech Guys operation, the UK's first national digital support service for homes.

Barry will be responsible for developing the Tech Guys business and for service delivery across the whole of DSGi, which owns electrical retail chains Currys and PC World, as well as the pure play internet retailer Dixons.co.uk. He is expected to start this autumn.

At Comet, Barry was deputy managing director, with responsibility for retail operations, customer home fulfilment and customer repairs. He was previously buying director and logistics director at B&Q.

DSGi chief executive John Clare said: 'The Tech Guys proposition is central to our customer service commitment and therefore enormously important to our strategy. I am confident that Tom has the right blend of skills and experience to lead the national development of this major service provider.'

The Tech Guys was launched last September and offers technical support including engineers, call centres and in-store service centres at all PC World stores.
