Like-for-like sales affected by payment structure of service agreements
Dixons Group will make a change to the way it reports its UK like-for-like sales. The retailer said the change would reflect the way it sells service agreements to customers at PC World, Currys and The Link.

Previously, like-for-like sales have included the full value of service agreements sold during the period. In the second half of the year to April 30, the group started allowing customers to pay for their service agreements on a monthly basis as an alternative to paying a lump sum.

The retailer said that, as a result, it is impossible to compare like-for-like sales inclusive of service agreements with prior years.

The group will release a trading update next week. Preliminary results for the 52 weeks to April 30 will be announced on June 22.
