Dixons is launching a same-day delivery service that will mean any order made before 9.30am will reach shoppers by between 6.30pm and 10pm.

The service is the latest in Dixons’ multichannel drive, which has led the electricals specialist to focus on customer service and initiatives such as click-and-collect in the past year.

It is also launching an improved next-day delivery service and a Sunday delivery for small boxes, working with Royal Mail Courier Service.

Next day delivery will be available for any orders placed before midnight, with delivery to the customer between 6.30pm and 10pm the next day. Previously shoppers would have to order before 5pm to qualify for next-day delivery.

Same-day and Sunday delivery costs £14.99, and next-day delivery costs £4.99.

Ecommerce director Jeremy Fennell said Dixons’ core focus is developing its multichannel offer, and that different delivery options are a central part of that.

He said: “One of our strategic challenges is offsetting the cost of delivery, and by creating value in our proposition that customers are prepared to pay for we can do that.”
