Divisional split on the cards at Dixons

Electricals retailer Dixons is understood to be considering restructuring to create at least two distinct divisions.

The Link and PC World would be joined under a computers and communications umbrella, while Dixons and Currys would form an appliances arm. International retail could comprise a third division or report to one of the others.

There is speculation that PC World managing director Simon Turner would head computers and communications. Currys managing director Nick Wilkinson is a possible appliances chief.

A spokeswoman said: 'We are a reactive company and are always responding to changes in the market. (Chief executive) John Clare has alluded to the fact we are looking at (the structure of) the business.' An announcement is likely in the next two months, but she said: 'Whether it's about the reporting structure or something more fundamental, we are not able to say.'

Separately, Dixons has forged a three-year deal to install mobile phone content from provider Monstermob.
