The Disney Store has opened its first store in Portugal at the Colombo shopping centre, Lisbon.

Disney Store Europe marketing director Joanne Webb said early sales figures have surpassed expectations. The retailer is considering other new markets, but declined to name them. It operates 108 stores in the UK, France, Spain and Italy.

The group has recently opened stores in Italy and Spain, and plans to launch a further 12 in the UK this year. Webb said: “The brand is key and very popular across Europe, but it is not just a gift store, we’re also an entertainment company. We’ve had a phenomenal year.”
