International like-for-likes down 11 per cent
First-quarter sales are down across all divisions at international fashion retailer Gap.

For the 13 weeks ending April 29, total sales were down from $3.66 billion (£1.97 billion) to $3.44 billion (£1.85 billion), a decrease of 5 per cent. Like-for-like sales were down 9 per cent, compared with a 4 per cent decrease in the first quarter of this year.

International like-for-like sales, including the UK, were down 11 per cent.

In the US, like-for-like sales were down at all three divisions - 11 per cent at Old Navy, 8 per cent at Gap and 5 per cent at Banana Republic.

The Gap group operates 3,070 stores worldwide.
