Selfridges in Manchester has been raided by masked men who stole £1m of designer watches.

Police said three masked men entered the store at 7.20pm wearing high visibility jackets and stole Audermars Piguet, Jaeger le Coultre, Hublot and Cartier watches, Manchester Evening News reports.

The thieves masked display cabinets with an axe and crowbars, making off with 100 watches in a black Mercedes Benz driven by a fourth man.

Designer watches worth £1m have been stolen from Selfridges in Manchester city centre.

Detective Constable Adam Cronshaw, said: “This was a brazen robbery while the store was open and busy with members of the public.

“It was clearly well planned and executed. These men were in and out in less than 80 seconds and were very particular about the watches they selected.”

A Selfridges spokesman said: “A robbery took place at our Manchester Exchange Square store on Wednesday, September 19. The police are currently investigating and we are helping them with their enquiries.”
