MPs are today set to grill BHS’s former owner, Dominic Chappell, as part of an ongoing parliamentary inquiry into the chain’s collapse.
The controversial Chappell, whose consortium Retail Acquisitions acquired BHS from Sir Philip Green for £1 last year, is expected to face questions over how much money he invested in the department store chain and how much the consortium allegedly took out in salaries and management fees.
The former racing car driver is also likely to be probed over his relationship with Green.
Former BHS chief executive Darren Topp will also face questions from MPs on the Business, Innovation and Skills Committee and Work and Pensions committee from 9am.
The joint inquiry kicked off last month but has taken on added significance after administrators for the 88 year-old retailer said last week the chain will be wound down as they had been unable to find a buyer. Retail Week revealed in May the business was on the brink of administration before it collapsed, putting 11,000 jobs at risk and leaving a £571m pensions black hole.
Green is due to face MPs next Wednesday.
