Debenhams to tempt teens with spiced-up range

Debenhams plans to wow teenage shoppers this autumn/winter with Top Shop-style own-brand accessories and lingerie.

The privately-owned department store group wants to capture more young fashion spend by spicing up its own-brand Red Herring label next season.

It is launching fun lingerie and directional fashion accessories, such as skull-caps, ponchos and head scarves.

A diffusion line from sexy lingerie brand Bas Bleu will also debut later this year.

The retailer continues to roll out the Designers at Debenhams ranges to new categories, with swimwear from Frost French arriving in June, followed by kidswear from Antoni and Alison and bathroom furniture by Jasper Conran.

It has also ditched toiletry label Spa and introduced the Remedy, By Nature and Pure Collection make-up ranges.

Debenhams was taken private by venture capitalist Permira for£1.7 billion last year. Chief executive Rob Templeman has launched a range of initiatives to boost sales and cut costs.
