Debenhams will help to ease the disappointment of newlyweds left without their wedding gifts following the collapse of online gift service Wrapit.

The department store will offer customers who had a wedding list with Wrapit a£100 gift card.

Wrapit went into administration this week, leaving 4,000 couples without an estimated 100,000 ordered presents.

To qualify, couples need to bring documentation to a local Debenhams store to prove they had a wedding list with Wrapit. They can register their wedding list at the department store.

“We have every sympathy for brides, grooms and guests who have not received presents, said Debenhams’ brand manager for weddings Paul Lines.

“Although we can’t get them the first gifts they ordered we hope that the£100, if they register with us will, soften the blow,” he added.
