Debenhams has opened its first store devoted solely to homewares, in the Middle East.
The 5,000 sq ft Debenhams Home store in the Avenues Mall in Kuwait sells home furnishings, bedding and bathroom accessories.
The store is part of a trial concept with Debenhams’ Middle East partner Alshaya and was designed by London firm Zebra Projects.
Debenhams’ first Indian store will open in the Ambi Mall in the Gurgaon district of Delhi on October 12; its second will open in the Saket area of Delhi in spring.
The retailer is considering taking units in other Indian cities including Chennai and Mumbai and is to open two more Indian stores next year.
