GD25 collection to debut in 25 Marks and Spencer stores

Retail legend George Davies is to launch a limited edition of women’s party clothing at Marks & Spencer later this month to celebrate his 25th anniversary of selling fashion on the high street.

The GD25 collection of 25 garments, which includes coats, dresses, cardigans and vest tops, will be sold in the Per Una area of 25 M&S stores. These are in the same towns where Davies launched his first collection at Next stores 25 years ago.

Speaking exclusively to Retail Week, Davies said: “I want to give something back to customers who have supported me for 25 years.”

Davies said that there would be a launch party on September 19 and the collection would go into stores on September 25.

The highlights of his illustrious career include founding Next in 1982, introducing George at Asda in the 1990s and launching Per Una at M&S in 2001.

The M&S stores are in locations including Glasgow, Edinburgh, London’s Marble Arch, Sheffield’s Meadowhall and Kent’s Bluewater.

A spokeswoman for Davies said that the garments are slated to be available for 25 days, but she expected them to sell quicker.
