The retail weather forecast from Saturday September 7 to Friday September 13, 2019

The week last year

Still seasonable with a brief taste of warmer temperatures in the South. Rainy north, drier south.

The week this year

Temperatures will be very close to normal for most areas. Although the early part of the working week will be a bit cooler than last year across the South, for the most part temperatures will be within a degree or two of last year plus or minus.

This weekend at least looks dry, but showers are likely at the start and end of next week. The highest departures from last year and normal will be across southern England and from Northern Ireland to Scotland.

Mindset

Broadly neutral for weather-driven demand versus last year so not ideal for retailers looking to drive sales of new autumn lines. Some disruption to footfall in the working week, but positive for the weekend.
