The retail weather forecast from Saturday December 14 to Friday December 20, 2019

The week last year

More rain fell during the middle of the week. Temperatures were warmer than normal from start to finish.

The week this year

Temperatures are expected to be a touch higher than normal for the South and slightly below normal in the North for most of the week.

The beginning of the period will be on par with last year, but from Monday it will trend colder than last December.

We will see periods of showers mainly in the South East from systems passing into France. Northern areas will have spotty precipitation that could even include some snow.

Mindset

Temperature comparisons versus last year will provide positive weather-driven demand, supporting the main focus of Christmas shopping for many consumers. Rainfall could slow footfall at times in the South.
