The retail weather forecast from Saturday August 10 to Friday August 16, 2019

The week last year

An up-and-down week for temperatures, along with periods of rain and thunder.

The week this year

A westerly flow will dominate the pattern bringing plenty of rain to the country. As is usual with this type of pattern, the heaviest rain will fall in the West and North.

Last year’s rain was close to normal, so anomalies will follow the same pattern: wettest versus last year in the North West to a touch wetter in the South East.

Temperatures in western areas will also be near or slightly below normal, while the eastern coast edges just above normal. Most spots will trend cooler than last year.

Mindset

Weather-driven comparisons will stay slightly behind last year but closer to normal. Expect to see periods of footfall disruption especially for stores in the North and West with increased rainfall.
