The retail weather forecast from Saturday August 31 to Friday September 6, 2019

The week last year

A few light showers dotted the country. Temperatures were seasonable to cool in the North and seasonable to warm in the South.

The week this year

Late summer warmth will ease a bit but early September with still be a bit warmer than last year and normal. Afternoon highs will slip back to the lower 20s °C and morning lows will be around 10°C.

High pressure will continue to dominate the pattern, keeping the country mostly dry. The best chance for any showers will will be in Ireland and Scotland over the weekend.

Mindset

Warm and sunny conditions will continue to prop up late summer clearance and be positive for footfall, but not good news for retailers looking to sell higher-margin, new transitional ranges.
