Surrey town to be updated with mixed-use shopping mall
Crest Nicholson has received approval from Surrey Heath Borough Council for its£100 million redevelopment of Camberley town centre. The site, to the west of Park Street, will provide 120,000 sq ft (11,150 sq m) of retail space, as well as a nine-screen cinema, bowling alley, restaurants and cafés, 218 apartments and more than 900 parking spaces.

Park Street will be pedestrianised, and the centrepiece of the scheme will be a spectacular three-storey glazed atrium connecting the different elements under one roof. Work is expected to start on site next summer, with the first phase of the scheme scheduled to open in time for Christmas 2006.

Crest Nicholson developments director Ian White said: 'Our scheme will create a vibrant prime shopping area and family-oriented leisure destination that will transform this part of Camberley into a sustainable and thriving quarter for shopping, entertaining and living.'

The scheme was designed by DLG Architects. Colliers CRE is the letting agent.
