Controversial former Comet owner Henry Jackson is in talks to fund a number of new retail investments.

Jackson is courting potential investors and placement agents who assist with private equity fundraisings to aid the ventures, Sky News reported.

The OpCapita founder last year caused controversy when he placed Comet into administration just six months after buying the electricals specialist for £2.

OpCapita, which is an investor in Game Group, is reportedly looking to build up a long-term fund for investments in retail, rather than raising money on a deal-by-deal basis as it has previously done.

It emerged last month that Opcapita is likely to receive more than £100m from the Comet business in cash and other assets.
