Comet names Fox as managing director

Electricals chain Comet has appointed Simon Fox as managing director.

Fox, operations director at the Kingfisher-owned business, will take over from Rob Cissell on February 12.

Cissell is departing for DIY group B&Q, where he will become managing director, commercial, and report to chief executive Bill Whiting.

A spokesman for Comet said: 'Simon brings broad business experience to the role, both as finance director and operations director, as well as with his continued leadership of e-Comet.'

Fox joined the Comet board as finance systems and strategy director in April 1998.

Cissell has also been trading director and commercial director at Woolworths, formerly owned by Kingfisher.

The appointment comes ahead of Kingfisher's expected demerger of its electricals division, which includes Comet and French chain Darty.
